Banbury & Bradford "kick" off - 30/1/10
This week both the Bradford and Banbury leagues kicks off. Wildcats in Bradford will be hoping to finally claim a league title after defending champions Allstars transferred to the Pudsey league in Leeds. However they will be put under pressure by new teams Misters and Rebels. The Banbury league as always is likely to go to the wire with all of Division 1 very closely matched. Promoted team Harlequins A will be looking to put in some good performances to maintain their division 1 status, while their new B team will be competing in division 2. Good luck to all the teams!

M&N defend their cup title - 25/1/10
Last night in Banbury Oxfordshire, BGN school was the setting of a nail biting tournament for cup finals night. League winners Vixens were favourites going into the night, with both M&N and Banbury Blues A (who finished 2nd and 3rd in Division 1 respectivley) breathing down their necks for a chance to be crowned cup champions. It was however the Division 2 teams that shone last night. Hook Norton almost stole victory against Vixens with some accurate shooting from both GS and GA, but narrowly missed out eventually losing the game by just one goal. The shock result of the night came from a determined Mellow Birds who pulled off a 9-8 victory against Vixens and may have won the tounrament if it wasn't for a loss to a much improved Harlequins team. Vixens battled on and managed to seal a victory against close rivals M&N, but it wasn't enough and M&N went on to defend their title as Banbury Cup Champions - congratulations! And well done to everyone who took park last night.

They're all stars! - 07/12/09
Last Wednesday saw the first season at the Challenge netball league in Bradford come to an end with Janin's Allstars winning their last match by just 2 goals to take the Championship. The Allstar team has been unstoppable this season, cruising to victory with a perfect 14 - 0 winning streak. The team are known for fast play, quick shooting and a strong defence with Captain Janine Lesiak at the heart of it. The undefeated champions have since switched to the Pudsey netball league where they face some stiff competition in the Premiership division. With the cup still to play at Bradford, I'm sure the girls will be hoping to claim the double. Well done on a great season ladies!

The double double! - 23/11/09
Last night the Pudsey netball league came to an end with a great finals night. The two semi finals were really well contested with division 2 under dogs The Pugsters putting up a great fight against Zodiac, and Merger mirroring that effort against the favourites 'The Shirley's'. The final saw Zodiac take on the defending cup and reigning league champions The Shirley's. Zodiac really held their own and showed some great flowing netball through the centre court. But it was once again the Shirley's who stole the show, mostly thanks to their tough defence of Ruth Cockerill, Emma Lipman and Karina Murie who made countless interceptions and turnovers. Once again congratulations ladies - make room in the trophy cabinet!

The girls edged it! - 12/11/09
Moulton College was host to the Moulton netball cup tournament this week where all the teams battled it out in a fast tempo round robin tournament. With the Sun Inn crowned champions of the league they were looking to do the double, while Iglooettes were defending champions and looking to add to last seasons success. However it was Gilt Edged who were in with a shot, and it all came down to the last match - Gilt Edged v The Sun Inn. It was end to end action where every pass, every shot, every interception counted in this frantic 10 minute game! And eventually it was Gilt Edged who managed to come out on top with a deserved victory to be crowned new champs of the Moulton Cup. The girls certainly edged it on the night!
